Welcome

 Upriver Community United, Inc. is a non-profit 501c(3) organization incorporating small communities including (Fernwood, Santa, Emida and Clarkia) in rural Idaho. Located 25 miles southeast of St. Maries, Idaho and approximately 70 miles radius from the larger towns of Moscow to the south and Coeur d'Alene to the north, the organization is an outgrowth of the University of Idaho's Horizons Program aimed at reducing poverty in the region.   

 Upriver Community United seeks to improve quality of living and enhance our community through sustainable growth, education and food security, while preserving our values, qualities and culture.

 The Upriver Community United Board has worked to stimulate renewed confidence and pride in the communities it serves. We have the Upriver Foodbank which distributes food twice per month.  Our rural area is a highly populated low income along with low income senior aged community in need of food. 

 We have a  committee that developed a Historical Society that has generated a great deal of interest and spurred numerous contributions of historical photographs, artifacts, and pioneer stories.

Upriver Community United (known as UCU) participates in the  organized cleanup day that picks up trash on 13 miles of highway shared by the local communities.

Our Fernwood Days Committee puts together the community festival which is an annual celebration the last weekend in July.  Money raised from the event has been used  for the community building repairs and needs,  along with  donations to the Upriver foodbank, our Senior Center and Tri Community Library.

Upriver Community United has overseen the upgrade of the Upriver Community Center (previously known as CAF) building in order to make it more useful for community functions in the absence of a separate community center.

The Communications Committee has created a facebook page  as well as a website to share the developments as they happen and inform the constituency of upcoming meetings.
